ICT without a PC

The innovative nature of the resource I have not seen any other resources like this and it gives ideas that I have not seen in role-play areas. The role-play area is an important learning tool in any early years setting and this gave a range of ELGs that could be covered this way.

The impact on learning and the work of the teacher in the classroom, to what extent and in which areas I think that this gives a wider variety of ways to enable children to access a rather difficult ELG to cover. It is generally done through discussion and watching rather so I liked the ways it gave pupils opportunities of using the technology for themselves. There are a wide variety of ideas that will support a lot of the topics that we already have in our long term plan.

How the resource supports or enhances the everyday life or work of teachers, pupils or school The list of equipment to set up the whole role-play area (not just the ICT bit) will support teachers planning and save them time. Some of the ideas are quite simple and could easily be used in other year groups (not just FS) e.g. Our visitor. And could support the Speaking and listening elements of the PNS

Cost effectiveness in terms of educational aims and results – not just price. I think there are budget implications as a lot of the items may not currently be available in schools e.g. scanner and much electrical equipment must be PAT tested before it can be used in schools. Many of these items would have to be stored in a FS classroom as role play areas are changed regularly not kept out all the time. Effective role play is an important aspect of an early years setting and if it is well managed it can achieve a lot so I think that this resources is a fair price.
